As I celebrate the publication of Chasing Freedom, I’ve been thinking about the people who helped me reach this moment — especially during the years when writing and caregiving were intertwined.
I’m grateful for the teachers and mentors who guided me in the craft, research, and storytelling that shaped this historical fiction novel. Their support gave me the confidence to take an idea and begin turning it into something real.
I’m deeply thankful for the thoughtful editorial support that strengthened the book in every way— from my test readers to my editor. Insightful questions, careful suggestions, and steady encouragement helped me refine the story into its best form.
And I’m especially grateful for the friends who walked beside me — literally and figuratively. Long conversations on the trails or quiet moments of support at the bedside carried me through the hardest times. The shared stories, laughter, and the kind of companionship that carries you through hard times all helped keep me committed to this project. Their presence reminded me, again and again, why stories of courage and resilience matter and changed my entire perspective on how I want to live my life.
I couldn’t have reached this milestone without the people who encouraged me, supported me, and believed in this book even before I did. I’m so grateful to each of you.
